good morning we are going to finish off our Zoey and Sassafras quatre flies and ice when we left off Zoey had just found a tiny caterpillar caterpillar on sassafras no and she was taking a picture of it I let Mom have a turn holding him and after we set him on a catnip least we watched in awe as he gobbled One Lie then another and another what is really eat a lot don't they I asked yep it's a good thing we had the greenhouse to get the new catnip plants growing quickly he is so hungry he's got to grow his little body how can you fit so much food in his little body I muttered as I squinted down at him oh he can't so you'll shed his skin several times and each time remarkably bigger just like a regular caterpillar and like them a slight I asked my mind my mind wandered back to the murder horses we had helped last summer we have not read about the murder so I guess we'll have to get that one next time we needed to visit them now that the weather was warming up yes just like the mayfly nymphs I shivered I'm glad I just grow shedding my skin to get bigger would be super gross Mom laughed then it's a good thing you aren't an insect once they're big enough to eat caterpillars will form a chrysalis and there body parts will reorganize inside to form a butterfly not Academy not a butterfly cuz they're quatre flies I made a face reorganizing your body parts all that talk about shedding skin and whatnot has probably made you hungry let's get cleaned up for dinner you think her mom thought she was hungry after talking about the probably not sounds like her mom is kind of silly I think they're walking home you can see the tattered flag flying at Pier and the caterpillars down at the bottom on the catnip plant I hope it stays warm we Stan to the counter Flies who flooded around the baby caterpillars making sure they were safe and well-fed Sassafras looked longingly back at the cata flies the catnip and then he joined us on the pass home remember he likes the catnip to but he didn't take it cuz he was not being greedy chapter 14 a knock sassafras watched me check on my African violet babies in the dining room I carefully brush the soil away from the leaf stem I'd planted in the dirt and lifted the lease out yes I could see tiny little nuts starting to grow at the bottom of the stairs and wonder what those knobs are going to be what grows at the bottom of a plant I dangled the leaf in front of sassafras is face look they are baby my friends are going to freak out I show them that I made a leaf grow into a whole new plant sassafras blinks in agreement then whipped his head from side-to-side pointed his years toward the kitchen do you hear something says I strain I didn't hear any say sassafras left out of my lap and ran to the back door and get that that is when she's holding up the tiny least that's growing new roots I bet if you find some herbs and some dirt you might be able to try this at home. Be pretty cool we'll have to see if anybody grows a plant from a leaf Stephen send some pictures I want to see that maybe I'll see if I can do it here I followed still straining to hear any noise sassafras me out in patiently scratched at the door knob maybe someday you'll be able to open the door but for now how about I help you I grinned at him and I twisted the doorknob there on the doorstep with a bundle of catnip what's a teeny tiny note I picked it up and looked at it as a smile spread across my face I believe this is for you sassafras I said bending down sassafras took a step toward catnip meow and he looked up at me somebody with tiny hands wrote for sassafras Wonder yes go ahead it's yours and I waved him on he dissolved into a rather ring purring drooling mess of happiness I looked again at the miniature notes and saw a paw print he looked up at me some drool crumpled and a crumpled catnip leaf we're smeared on the side of his face killers they must have made their chrysalises that's why don't they don't need the catnip anymore we got to go see them sassafras cried and he paused at the Isle of wet catnip it's all wet from his nasty drool more minutes then I really want to go see I looked at the note one more time and I realized I should add it to my strong before it gets lost was just too cute if you look so close that the notes and it's a little bit blurry these little dots right here are the paw print but it's kind of hard to see butterflies have Tiny Paws I went to my room and glued it next to my entry on quatre flies across from the silly photo of sassafras with a tiny caterpillar on his nose I leaned in close to the photo and barely make out the Saints the Saints prayers of a caterpillar remember that the magical creatures take magical pictures so you can see different things when you look at a magical picture I couldn't wait to see the I left up and rushed past my desk the wish of are flipped my journal open to a new page it was a blank page waiting for whatever creature next I wonder who they'll help next I'll have to go back to school and see what she's Zoey and Sassafras book to find and read next the end fireflies definitely wear saved and good thing her mom was there to help her with the plants off all right I'll see you guys later I hope you're having fun
