All VUSD Schools Closed: Thursday, February 19, 2026

We have been monitoring conditions throughout the day and due to the heavy impact of this winter storm that has resulted in heavy snow, downed trees and powerlines, inaccessible side streets, and power outages, we have decided to close All VUSD schools on Thursday, February 19th. This includes school closures for Hazel Fischer, Albert Michelson and Avery Middle School as well as the Hawks Hub program. Additionally, the Avery Middle School field trip is also cancelled. The decision to close schools is not taken lightly, however, the safety of students, families and staff come first when making the final call. The make-up day for this school closure will be Monday, May 18, 2026.

With over another foot of snow anticipated at higher elevations over the next 24 hours, we will be checking on our facilities throughout the day tomorrow to determine the status of school for Friday and will send out an anouncement once a decision has been made. In the meantime, continue to stay safe.
