All VUSD School Closed: Tuesday, February 17, 2026

After assessing road conditions early this morning, we have decided to close all schools today, Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. This includes school closures for Hazel Fischer, Albert Michelson and Avery Middle School as well as the Hawks Hub program. As of 5:30am, County road crews have not yet begun clearing side streets in the areas between Avery and Arnold and road conditions are poor. There is also the forecast for an additional 6-12 inches of snow expected for the Avery/Arnold areas as well as the possibility of snow later tonight in Murphys. In considering all these factors, the decision was made to close all schools. The make-up for this "snow day" will be Monday, April 27th.

Our maintenance crew will be coming to work later this morning when it is safe to begin clearing school areas in preparation for re-opening school as soon as it is deemed safe. In the meantime, stay safe today. Thank you.
