Hey all- the subject of twins has always fascinated me! Randy & Anthony, my twin sister & myself... and did you know Mrs Trent has a twin too?!? AND, my twin sister has twin boys that are YOUR age.
Anyway, growing up as a twin definitely had it's ups and downs for my sister & I. There were days that we LOVED being twins and days we didn't love it so much. There were things that made twinship super fun and other times, having a twin made life more challenging. In my class at high school, we had four set of twins!! And each pair of twins was so different and we all had different opinions and stories about our twinhoods.
And now, I'm always just interested to see how people think having a twin would feel. I'm also super interested to hear from Randy and Anthony to see what their opinions are (Although we all already know that they are like best of friends and amazing together!)
Here's a Mystery Science for you. Watch this FIRST.
Then please form an opinion and think of reasons why YOU THINK having a twin would be great or not so great!
I am already excited to read these paragraphs! Don't forget to PROOFREAD!

We're writing about food, which is a great time to add descriptions of taste and smell and texture. You can also add descriptions of sight (details, details) and sound (when you eat, how you talk or react). Let's see if you can pump up your writing a bit and bring back the details descriptions that we had been working on!

Today we will be writing more FRACTIONS! Fractions can be represented in other ways too besides shapes. For example, the fraction of blueberry muffins compared to banana nut in a batch of one dozen muffins could be 7/12. Meaning 7 blueberry muffins out of 12 total muffins.
On slide 5, you will be writing fractions on groups of objects. For example, you will write the number of cats in a group of animals, or the number of striped sun glasses in a group. The top number (or numerator) will be the group you are asked to look for. The bottom number (or denominator) is the total number of objects in the group.
If you need to see the images zoomed in, click the MAGNIFYING glass on the tool bar at the top of your assignment (about the 6th button from the left). I recommend zooming in to 100%. Then you can zoom in and see everything on your screen by scrolling around.
If you need help with this assignment, feel free to reach out! - Miss Titus

You guys! I really like this book! I'm excited for you to read about the attitude changes that are happening with Joey and Suds.
Due:
WHAT?!?! All my comments disappeared when I sent this out this morning~ no wonder there was confusion! I've written step by step directions for you in the private comments on each of your documents. I've also extended the due date to Wednesday.
Let me know if you need help, okay?

I know this assignment is listed as "ungraded", but I want you guys to know I go to Reflex each day and look at your facts, scores, and fluency. I will be using this information for your report cards. So, just in case you thought I was torturing you with math facts... I am (again, insert evil laugh here). But it's also VERY IMPORTANT you practice each day and keep your brain thinking. AND, I'm using the information in place of our 5-minute tests!
Due:
Today you will be writing unit fractions for each shape. Here's a little reminder about writing fractions:
The numerator (or top number in the fraction) is how many pieces are shaded in the shape. HINT: In this assignment, this number will always be 1. Because the directions are asking to write the area of each piece of the whole.
The denominator (or bottom number in the fraction) is the total number of pieces in the shape (including the shaded part!)

Here's our basic schedule, guys. Take more time if you need, but remember we're starting Charlotte's Web on Monday! Don't let the due dates stress you out, okay? AND if you go sit in the sunshine to read, WEAR SUNSCREEN (learned that lesson today while grading and doing meetings, nothing fun like reading a book...)
Do you still like this book? I think it's fun... the brother vs. sister battle.
Monday/Tuesday ch 7-8= 35 pages, questions below
Wednesday ch 9-10= 20 pages, questions below
Thursday ch 11-12= 11 pages, questions below
Friday ch 13-14= 18 pages, take AR quiz!

Keep up the hard work on fractions! Please follow these directions for each slide:
Slides 2 - 6: Please move the lines from the bottom of the slide onto the shapes to divide the shapes into the specific number of parts outlined on the directions of each slide. For example, halves, thirds, etc. You will need to change the length for each line and rotate them on the shape. Please make sure each part is equal in size.
Slide 7: Drag the correct unit fraction that is the area of each part of the shapes.
Slide 8: Type the the answer into each green text box for each question.

**These quizzes automatically grade your multiple choice questions and will ALWAYS mark your short answers (ones that require sentences) wrong as you're working. Ignore that. I have to go in and check over your sentences and give you those points. So your score will be correct once I've looked at it and RETURNED the grade to you. Make sense? Don't stress over the grades they show you right away. You're all doing fantastic! (And hopefully enjoying the book!)
Everyone, this week we need to read almost 2 chapters a day so we can finish in time to all read Charlotte's Web together. I have put a suggestion below for how to pace that. DON'T FREAK OUT over the pages. Please keep reading the directions...
I want you to ENJOY this fun book. My goal is to finish the book by Friday because we are starting Charlotte's Web as a class next Monday. So if you need to to take more time, I'm totally okay with that. You may be reading Charlotte's Web AND finishing this book at the same time if you need past this weekend, though.
I would also suggest you read one chapter in the morning (perhaps with some nice Cocoa or an excellent bowl of cereal) and then another chapter in the afternoon (perhaps under the shade of a lovely tree with a crunchy apple or other healthy snack).

Hi all,
I love that we have a "pattern" of work going so we all know what to do and we have a routine. But, I thought maybe it was time to shake it up a bit! Let's try this Red/Blue Spelling for today. We have done this in class before so it should feel familiar.
It will be easiest if you type all of your words in one color (perhaps blue) then go back and change just the vowels to red! That will go quicker than changing the color one letter at a time. Just a thought.
Also, I listed your words for the week on slide 1 (oi sounds!) but you can also see them in your blue folder.

Hi guys,
Today your group is skipping questions so that you can read an extra chapter. Please be prepared to discuss these two chapters on Friday at 10:00 in a Google Meet with Miss Titus. These are the questions she will be going over the questions with you out loud, in case you want to think about them ahead of time.
Chapter 9
~Why doesn’t Jack recognize the things in his room? How do you think it will make his parents feel to see the kite in the trash?
~Do you think Jack should keep buying spells to prove Anansi is a troll? Why or why not?
~When Jack visited Lily, the sea witch, they had a thought at the same time. What was Lily’s idea? What was Jack’s idea?
~How does Lily react to Jack’s idea? Does she want to be friends with him? Why or why not?
~Would you want to be friends with Jack? Why or why not?
~What does Jack do as he floats out of the cave? Is that a good idea? Why or why not?
Chapter 10
~What kind of spell do you think Jack stole from Lily the sea witch?
~What does the stepmother remember about her experience with a spell of changing?
~What did Jack do when the stepmother asked him to hand over the jar with the spell in it? Do you think that was a good idea?
~What was Jack’s planning to do with the spell of changing?
~What happened below the bridge when Jack snuck up on Anansi? Why do you think that happened?
~What went wrong for Jack with the spell of changing? How do you think this mistake made Jack feel?

Chester,
I am going to try work with you a bit on this today after we talk about Fourth Grade Rats. I was going through your animal report paragraphs- which ALL follow the structure very well. You have an introduction sentence, 3 details, and a conclusion sentence. That is SO awesome and I am so proud of you.
But, as I was reading, some of your details were in all the paragraphs. This would not make your report really fun to read if everything just keeps getting repeated, right? I also noticed that some of your details (which were so interesting and awesome) were a bit mixed up. Like you have details about what they eat in the paragraph about their homes, or details about their life cycle in the paragraph about their diet.
So, JUST FOR YOU, because I love you😃 , I made this detail sort. I copied every detail sentence you wrote and there's a box for each paragraph. I would like to work with you (or your parents can) to sort the details into the matching topics.
Then, next week, I am going to help retype your paragraphs with all the details in the right spot! (and maybe add a few details if a topic needs more info) I'll have you tell me the sentences out loud and I'll do the typing for you, okay? I know you've worked super hard on this so I don't want you to feel like it's this HUGE thing you have to redo. I just want to reorganize some of your thoughts with you! Next week, our class is doing the art for your report (not writing), so you & I can take some time to work privately on this in a Google Meet and get it re-sorted easy peasy.

Hi guys! We can read these chapters together during our meeting at 9:30 today!
Due:
Okay guys, here’s your final paragraph. This week it is up to YOU to brainstorm your intro, details, and conclusion. Then write your paragraph, edit it, and turn in a final draft by Friday! Be sure all your details match the topic (survival). Use your notes for the facts. And PROOFREAD it carefully before you turn it in. Consider this to be like a “quiz” on writing. I want to see what you can do by yourself with no help from me! Have fun!
Due:
Hi guys, you have today and tomorrow to work on this! Read the chapters and then the google quiz. Please be sure to answer questions with complete sentences where it asks!
Due:
I love this book! I love reading books when I already know the characters and I get to learn more about their lives.

Due:
Awesome job on Order of Operations! I am so impressed with your hard work.
Now we are moving on to chapter 8. That means we are starting fractions! To start, we will be learning about how to equally divide a whole object. Think about a pan of brownies. If you want to share a pan of brownies between yourself and 5 other friends, you would cut it into 6 equal pieces. Today you will be looking at shapes and determining is this divided up into EQUAL parts or UNEQUAL parts.
Here is some new vocabulary about what the parts are called when they are divided:
2 equal parts - halves
3 equal parts - thirds
4 equal parts - fourths
6 equal parts - sixths
8 equal parts - eighths
For this assignment, pease complete the Equal Parts of a Whole slides. Take a look at the attached video below if you have any questions.

It's Week 26 everyone! I chose to cancel our regular list for week 26 and do all suffixes instead. Why, you ask? Well, week 26 was originally filled with apostrophes and pretty difficult grammar rules to go along with it. I know if we were all together in class, we could totally conquer this list, but I think it may literally make you AND you parents all pull your hair out strand by strand trying to practice the apostrophe words. SO, suffixes it is! We know suffixes. We're good at suffixes. Learning suffixes is something you're also supposed to do in third grade! So, have fun!

Okay, guys! Today we are going to try a different type of lesson in Think Central. It's the same material (divide by 9), but it's a different program called Personal Math Trainer. This one is cool, because it looks for things you answer incorrect or seem to struggle with and then at the end it gives you a "prescription"- which is extra problems to practice what you struggle with!
When you finish the first part of the assignment, you'll turn it in. Then when you go back to your "Things to Do" list on the homepage, you'll have a new link called "prescription" (I think). You'll need to click that and go through the extra practice problems! (It will look something like the photo below). It's like when I call you up to the front table to go over math homework with me ~ we're just doing it through a computer (bummer!)
REOPEN this assignment in Google Classroom when you're done and click the "mark as done" green button again! Then I'll check to see if you got all the way through everything!
**If you have any blue links there, click on them and see if you need to finish something up from yesterday!

Hey, everyone! You guys are doing SOOOOO incredibly amazing at figuring all this stuff out. So, when you open up the Skills pages, you have your own copy. You should be able to go in (open as Google Doc) and bold, underline, change text colors, etc. And once you are all done, and ready for me to check it over, then you need to hit the "TURN IN" button at the top of your page! (DO NOT hit the "share" button like I told you before- I was wrong! I know... weird.) So, I'm giving us an extra day to figure this out because it's crazysauce and I was confused about where everyone's work went. So even if you think you turned it in already, please go back and hit that "TURN IN" button if you can. Thank you!
Due:
Use the spelling list in your blue folder for Week 23 and sort the words. When you are done, be sure to hit "TURN IN" so I get a copy sent back to me! (I think that's how it works, at least! We'll see!)
Thanks, kids! You're fabulous!
