SUPERINTENDENT WELCOME

Dear VUSD Staff,

I would like to take this opportunity to officially introduce myself to the staff of Vallecito Union School District as we prepare for the 2021-22 school year. It is an honor to have been appointed by the Governing Board as your new Superintendent.

Vallecito Union School District has earned a reputation for offering exceptional learning opportunities to students, and the supplemental supports and extracurricular activities offered beyond the classroom setting are exceptional, as they provide enriching learning experiences for students at all levels. As an educator for 20 years, I wholeheartedly value the programs and services in place, and I am committed to building upon best practices to ensure that current and future students have opportunities to explore their interests, find their true passions and receive a high-quality education that prepares them for High School.

In addition to the robust educational program, it was the level of staff and community involvement that drew me to this district. I witnessed this sense of pride as I underwent the interview process and have experienced it firsthand upon starting my position, as each of the faculty members, parents, students and business owners I have met have been extremely welcoming and have positive things to say about our District. I want to acknowledge and applaud the hard work and dedication demonstrated by all staff in making the re-opening of school a priority last year to offer in-person instruction for kids. Please know that it is my intent to continue to foster and cultivate the passion and involvement that is evident to ensure the continued success of our students, schools and community.

As we look ahead, there are many challenges that face us as a school district as we continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  By working together to take on each new challenge while continuing to prioritize the safety of students and staff, as well as maintaining high standards for learning, we have the opportunity to continue to strengthen our educational offerings and ensure every student succeeds.

Thank you for all you do for our kids and I look forward to meeting you as we return to classrooms and am hopeful for what the school year holds for all of us.
