ALL VUSD Schools Closed - Friday, Feb. 20, 2026

The current winter storm has completely overwhelmed the infrastructure from Forest Meadows up past Arnold and we have deemed it is still not safe to re-open. As a result, we will be closing all VUSD schools on Friday, February 20th. The closure includes Hazel Fischer, Albert Michelson, Avery Middle School and Hawks Hub program. Currently, road conditions are extremely poor from Utica Grade and above, many families and staff are blocked in and homebound due to downed trees, powerlines and unplowed side streets and two of our schools are currently without power. Weather conditions are expected to improve over the weekend and our communities and schools will need these extra days to allow streets to be plowed, power to be restored at schools and our parking lots and sidewalks cleared as well as food restocked so we can re-open on Monday, February 23rd. We understand how impactful this past week has been for our community and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
